What am I doing now?
As a Service & Interaction Designer at FJORD, I design various complex web and digital experiences. I work closely with product owners and other designers. I deliver interface design solutions to complex challenges, create detailed wireframes, and user flows, perform extensive user research, and create interactive prototypes.
Additionally, I work for my church as its webmaster. Currently, I'm working to re-design and re-launch our website, making it a human-centered designed experience.
Why am I always excited to go to work?
Government services are known to be the most criticized, misunderstood, and cumbersome experiences out there. Hidden attributes such as staffing, budgeting, and workflow setup unique to the government space add to this perception for better or worse.
Re-installing trust through my work can improve peoples' chances of getting the help and services needed. It is not the kind of work that features on the cover of a magazine. Instead, if the job is done right, it can positively affect millions of people's lives.
